In mid June the company PSI (Professional Service Industry, Inc.) from Lansing obtained 6 soil samples from the various parking lots and drives. The samples were tested and the results were sent to the Office of Properties at the Diocese of Lansing. Mr. Alan Olsen, who heads the department, received their report in early July. He then forwarded the findings to the 5 asphalt companies that he had sought estimates from, both local and in Lansing. Only 2 responded favorably to wanting to take on our project this year. The names of these companies are: TomCo Asphalt, Inc., and McKearney Asphalt and Sealing, Inc. both of Lansing.
The soil testing revealed that the main circle drive as well as parts of the front drive that extend to both the east and west parking lots is in need of a new sub-base. Both companies sent estimates for the work with options as to what areas are in most need of repair/replacement according to the Witness to Hope funds that we have available.
Mr. Olsen will be on vacation until August 5th. Before we can move forward with the work I will need to consult him as to which is the best route to go. After that decision has been made then we can secure a contract and get on their calendar.
I will keep you informed as to how the project is proceeding. Believe me; I had no idea how long of a process that this was going to be. I began seeking estimates in March and here we are in August. I ask for your patience.
